Two hits of black plus gold.
That’s not JKO on the medal — it’s an 1898 depiction of the “arts” designed by Daniel Chester French for the Richard Morris Hunt memorial on Fifth Ave at 70th St, across from the Frick. The Municipal Art Society of New York, founded by Hunt, used different versions of this symbol as their identity for 110 years, but today we reserve it strictly for the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Medal.
I just came off a press check for the first printed piece in this year’s program. Two hits of black and metallic gold on glossy Sappi Opus with dull varnish — beautiful!
