Roman Pinball is an obsession with four circles found in Rome (broken, perfect, helicoidal, expanding). An exploration of place was documented and the process generated typographic results. Each of four hotspots tells a story — something extraordinary, or unexpected — and four ornamental letterforms (SPQR) are revealed in the process. Mapped, the letter/places (air, time, earth and sky) are a kind of extreme guide to Rome — unreal history and hyper-tourism and deep culture connected in a high-energy pinball constellation, like something expanding with possibility.
The making of Roman Pinball (as well as Venetian Suite) is documented at soulellis.tumblr.com
